Our Location
Nicaragua's SW Rivas province is one of few places in the world where
the orientation of the coast, the prevailing wind and the dominant
swell direction align so perfectly. And as if that wasn't enough it
seems our local sea-beds, river mouths & the earth's tectonic
plates themselves also conspired in the creation of what has to be one
of the world's most varied & interesting areas for surfing. Within
25kms of our house there are countless breaks, each offering something
completely different.

Thanks to the Papagayo Wind - which is an amplified North Easterly
trade wind - and the Nicaraguan Pacific Coast's NW to SE orientation we
get off-shore wind pretty much every day of the year. And it blows
off-shore all day. There is no sea breeze effect kicking in mid-morning
as in many hot climates. Just plain, simple, off-shore all day, every
day.

The Papagayo Wind is the result of the NE trade winds being
funnelled between the mountain ranges that rise up at each end of
Lake Nicaragua. The only coasts that are exposed to the Papagayo are
those directly in the lee of the lake - and we are located right bang,
slap in the middle. The breaks beyond the lee shores of the lake
go onshore from about 10am onwards. The only time we see onshore wind
is in October if there is a storm out to sea.

We have spared no expense in making sure that the house sets the perfect setting for your vacations. All the locally crafted bedroom furniture is made from certified semi-precious hard woods.

The sofa's are the very best and most comfortable we could find, likewise the bed linens & towel's. The house also has a fleet of three specially modified ciclo-taxies to make the short trip to the beach that much easier for you. And in the not so unusual event that the power goes out you will not find yourself groping for a torch thanks to the top of the line automatic generator we had installed.
