Completely Flat, Stormy And Unsurfable: Photos of the house

Aaagh! A block of text! Yep, its boring. Click here to skip to the bottom of the page and see the rest of the photos...

We are located in Nicaragua's picturesque South West within the Hacienda Iguana resort. The house is newly built - finished last year - and is, I think, a true paradise. My favourite break which I surf every day at dawn is located less than 3 minutes from my bed. There's no need to check the forecast, or the tide. There's always surf. And if there isn't, well, there's always plenty else to keep me occupied. And the tide hardly matters at all. Each phase just gives different waves, all of them beautiful in their own right.

What Is There To Do?

Loads! On the odd days that there's no swell, or the wind gets a bit strong (January & February, occasionally) there are ton's of other things to do. For example play golf on Hacienda Iguana's challenging 9-holer which is an extension to our back garden. The fishing here is also first rate. And the local technique of chucking a naked hook into great schools of fish and hauling them out is testament to the stock levels. If you are prepared to drive, then the ferry for Ometepe is nearby. And day trips to Granada can be culturally illuminating - as can the Pali in Rivas.

The Guest House

We built the guest house for my parents who come and stay during the long English winters. The concept behind it was that it would be completely independent of the main house, whilst benefiting equally from the views, terraces, swimming pool and garden. And as with all the other details, the architect did a fine job. The guest house itself comprises two amply sized, comfortably appointed en-suite bedrooms, a living room and a full kitchen. The terraces have a high quality outside dining table, a table tennis table, and a few deck chairs scattered about. The whole house is air conditioned. The guest house comfortably sleeps 4 people. If you need more sleeping space then we have two further bedrooms in the main house which can be occupied as needed. These bedrooms both have direct access from the pool terrace, and are equipped to the same high standard as the rest of the house. One has a queen bed and the other a pair of twins. We charge $60 per night for each extra room. So, with both extra rooms taken you end up with four.
